Proverbs 31:25
"Fear cannot take what you do not give it."
~ Christopher Coan
I used to write a lot of poetry in high school, and a bit after,
then sort of stopped for no apparent reason -
thought you might enjoy reading one from "the vault"
I wrote it over a decade ago.
Funny how these words can still speak after all this time...
"Fear"
by Jaime Carrillo
What is the word
That lingers
In my mind
Telling me I can't
Robbing my joy
Stealing my confidence
Giving me grief
TAKING
MY
TURN
Stepping on my toes
Holding me back
What is the word?
FEAR
so what about you bellas? what's holding you back??
I think it's always fear my friend, fear of falling short of the mark, fear of disappointing others, fear of failing, and in general fear of the unknown....I think the only fear I don't have is the fear of dying....don't get me wrong, I don't want to die, but I know there is nothing to be afraid of.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the timely message, I hope you and your family have a wonderful celebration of life this Sunday as we celebrate the Resurrection of our Saviour!
Fear that I'm not smart enough, not educated enough, that I'm not pretty enough, and of course the mother of all fears, that they won't like, or love me. Thank you so much for posting this and reminding us that fear is a waste of time. Happy Easter Sweet Bella
ReplyDeleteI often fear that I'm not making the right decision... Thankfully, this causes me to rely of Christ quite a bit. :)
ReplyDeleteI fear fear! It takes the place of perfect love!I guess my biggest fear is in not remaining God and not following the prompting of the spirit when he speaks...not being able to hear him because of the chatter of the world around me. Dear Lord, protect me from chatter...allow me to always remain in you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, sweet sister, for this loving post!
May you enjoy the beauty of the promise as we reflect on what He did for us! He is risen!
You must have been born insightful...wow...what a thought provoking poem. Yes, I think it's fear for so many of us...those niggling doubts up to full fledged fear. But recognizing it is the beginning of change. Wishing you a most blessed Easter, Jaime, with your sweet family! xoxo
ReplyDeleteDear bella, when you mentioned FEAR, the first thing that popped into my head, was the quote "we have nothing to fear but fear itself"...forget who the quote is from and it is from Franklin D. Roosevelt.
ReplyDelete...also, found a very meaningful one:
Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom.
~Bertrand Russell
You are so talented my sweet bella, I didn't know you wrote poems while in high school. What a meaningful poem about FEAR!
So sorry, not to have visited your blog, and respond back on your e-mail so far, it's been a very busy holiday week, and I have neglected to even wish you a Happy Easter. I hope you and your beautiful family enjoyed Easter! What a joyous celebration!
Much love to you and big hugs,
I figured you must have had this gift inside of you all along. I remember realizing on day, the only thing holding me back was myself. It's something I think we all need to work on each and every day. Hope you and the family had a wonderful Easter!!!
ReplyDelete-Gina-
Oh wow, I relate to this a lot. I used to really struggle with fear controlling me. At times Satan still attacks me with fear, but I am definitely in a better place than I used to be. God's love casts out fear! :)
ReplyDelete"Stealing my confidence"...this one hits home for me. Fear of putting myself out there and being rejected. Not being good enough. Beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteI haven't figured it out yet. Fear holds me back from doing a lot of things, unfortunately. Right now, it would be a fitness competition that I'm debating. Currently working on changing that!
ReplyDelete@annmarie...."taking my turn" really hits home for me when i re-read this poem...i am learning how to purpose it in my heart to walk with courage and really put myself out there...soul ripening is a beautiful thing :)
